Short but sweet - all tied up!

God Bless all those affected by the floods here in Iowa. We had only a small trickle in our basement and feel blessed that is all we had. Our hearts and our prayers go out to all those in Birdland Marina area, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Mississippi river valley, and anywhere else where those are affected by the water.

And it's tied up! Hawkeyes came through last week, so the score is now tied up at three a piece! Pictures below of both the latest custom boards! Cornhole in Iowa is going strong!
Thanks to Audrey, Wade, Kyle, Glen and Tom for their latest orders!

Attention to Details

As I was in an email discussion with my friend Tom late last week, he was asking me about the "bag business." I stated it was going well, and I had an order from a lady who just wanted something I had in stock. Well, as most of you know, this is a custom order company, so I rarely carry anything but the naked or primed boards. Each game is hand painted and custom detailed. However, I did have one that I painted for the Iowa State-Texas game last year, and after confering with the wonderful lady from Pennsylvania, she decided those colors would work. So I dug it out of the stock pile when I noticed it was a little scratched up and needed some touch ups. Instead of hastily just sending it out, I took the time to repaint the white and orange (ok, you UT fans - BURNT ORANGE). My friend Tom, knowing me pretty well, knew that my attention to detail is often overkill. But it is all about custom service and keeping the customer happy.

I truly hope that each and everyone who orders a custom game board from me is 100% satisfied. I remember a saying that went something like:

"If someone is extremely satisfied with your work, they will tell two people. If someone is extremely unsatisfied with the job you did, they will tell ten people."

I still like my odds with the two better!

Tri-Iowa Boards!

Represent Iowa! Just finished delivering three game boards, and if I don't say so myself, I think they are pretty sharp! I, of course, think the University of Northern Iowa Panther one looks the best (my alma mater)!

I really didn't step too far out of the box on these, but I do like the stripe with the bubble on the Panther board. I am going to do an Iowa State Cyclone one like that for a lucky family in Nevada, Iowa (yes, the town with a state name - although we pronounce it "na-VADE-a").

Also thanks to Darrell, John, Jim, Tammy and Wade for their recent orders. I hope you enjoy the games!

Stay tuned for the photos for the Iowa State Cyclone board coming soon!

Hawkeye fans better start representing! It is now 2-1 Cyclones for the 2008 year!

MiLB Tour '08

Whew! Just got done planning my minor league baseball tour to the great south! I have to be down in Nashville for a conference in June, so we are going to see the Nashville Sounds, then venture down to see the Huntsville Stars on my way to see my brother in Birmingham. Then see the Birmingham Barons. I am darned and determined to get my little niece a baseball from an actual player this year!!

She is so shy! Last time we went, she was all gungho about getting a baseball they actually played with. So as the crowd was thinning out in the late innings, we went down towards the bullpen (the old type similar to Wrigley). She barely whispered "Can I have a ball please?" The players thought she was cute, but then an accident happened (you parents know what I mean), and we had to cut the night short. This year is the year!!!

So excited about getting some additional looks at some stadiums, and touring the south a little. My wife is such a trooper as well. Last year was NYC (Yankees and Mets), and she enjoyed that. I think the real reason to want to go was the shopping! I could deal with that pain for a day, just to see two MLB stadiums that won't be with us next year!

Sporting Season Comes to an End

Kind of a melancholy time of year, with the bowl games being over, the NFL season starting to wind down and, of course, tax time. All-in-all a good sporting year for myself. My Packers are still alive, although as the seconds tick down to kickoff on Saturday, the butterflies are starting to get a little more active. My Cubs won the NL Central, although choked in the playoffs. The Northern Iowa Panthers finished the season #1, but stumbled in the playoffs (which is how college football championships SHOULD be determined). A now I live 9 blocks away from Drake University Knapp Fieldhouse, where the Bulldogs are playing some strong basketball.

Stay tuned, while I plan my baseball weekend in June! Schedules are out for MLB and MiLB!

Hawkeye Cornhole Toss Game

Here it is! The long awaited Hawkeye game board. Thanks to the proud owner who wanted ovals for his decals, I was able to custom make this cornhole game just in time for Christmas! It turned out great! I may even root for the Hawkeyes a little more this year! I guess that is the Christmas spirit coming through.

Although I can't seem to find out which bowl they are playing in this holiday season. My loyal Hawkeye friends told me at the beginning of the year that it was going to be in Florida.
Hmmm. . . .

Kansas State Wildcats Cornhole Board

Just finished a great looking cornhole game board! K-state Wildcats colors and the logo (purchased by owner and applied by Tailgate Gamers). It turned out really nice! Love the colors and can't wait to deliver!

The buyer wanted a gift for his sister, and thought the Kansas State cornhole game would make a great Christmas gift. Purple and white board, and purple and grey bags were the order. This should make for a great outdoor game, at least after this ice and snow storm passes! Go Wildcats!
I have a two great looking Iowa Hawkeye cornhole games that will be finished in the next couple of days. Come on Cyclone fans! I need a couple of orders for Iowa State! Represent!

To place your order, click here. I still have a small window of time to finish before Christmas!
